What does “compostable” mean for these capsules?

Tayst’s espresso product pages describe TÜV home-compostable certification. Its broader sustainability page also refers to BPI certification for commercial composting. These statements should not be treated as identical disposal instructions for every item the company sells. [4][7]

Follow the packaging instructions for the exact capsules you receive. If you use a collection service, check whether it accepts that capsule material. A compostable label does not mean the used pod belongs in ordinary recycling, or that littering or landfill disposal achieves the intended composting outcome.

For a purchase decision, the practical question is whether you have a suitable disposal route. A different capsule material alone does not establish that an entire coffee routine has no environmental impact.
