Yes, the VertuoPlus is still worth buying in 2026 if you drink mugs and espresso, never brew carafes and like a motorized head; the Deluxe is the one to pick if you hate refilling. Skip it if you want the current 12 oz Alto or the carafe, because it brews only the older 14 oz Alto and does not take the newer carafe pods.

Buying in Canada

Canadian machines run on 120 V like US models, but warranty is handled in the country of purchase, so buy a Canadian listing. In Canada the same Nespresso machines are sold under the Breville and De'Longhi names; the coffee system is identical, so compare colour, bundle and price. Our links open Amazon.ca with prices in Canadian dollars, and Best Buy Canada and Nespresso boutiques also stock them. Manuals and packaging are bilingual, English and French.

The motorized head opens and locks itself and the tank can swing to the side or back. The standard version holds about 1.2 L; the Deluxe holds about 1.7 L, the biggest tank of any compact Vertuo, and adds chrome accents.

It takes Vertuo pods only. Original capsules do not fit.

VertuoPlus versions at a glance

VertuoPlus

1.2 L · 5 mugs (7.8 oz) · 20 to 40 s, by market · A daily mug machine

VertuoPlus Deluxe

1.7 L · 7 to 8 mugs · 20 to 40 s, by market · Busy households that hate refilling

Vertuo Next, for reference

1.1 L · 4 to 5 mugs · About 30 s · Every size including carafe

The VertuoPlus brews espresso, double espresso, gran lungo, mug and the older 14 oz Alto. It does not brew the current 12 oz Alto or carafe pods, which arrived with newer machines. It measures about 8.7 x 13.7 x 12.8 in.

VertuoPlus: the standard machine

Press the lever and the motorized head opens; insert a pod, close it, press the button and it locks and brews. The tank can be rotated to sit behind or beside the machine, which helps on shallow counters. It reads the pod barcode for each size like every Vertuo.

At about 40 oz the tank holds five mugs, more than a Vertuo Next. The capsule container holds about ten used pods. In the US most listings are De'Longhi-built, and the card below is a verified machine-only listing.

WhichCapsule note: If you never brew carafes and want a motorized head, the VertuoPlus is a sound buy.

VertuoPlus Deluxe: the 60 oz tank

The Deluxe adds chrome accents and a much larger tank, about 60 oz, which means a busy household refills it every couple of days instead of daily. Brewing and sizes are otherwise the same.

Bundles with an Aeroccino are common. As always, compare the bundle with the machine plus a separate frother, and check that the listing really is the Deluxe if the tank is the reason you are buying it.

WhichCapsule note: For a household that drinks a lot of mug coffee and dislikes refilling, the Deluxe tank is the best reason to choose a VertuoPlus.

Which pods does the VertuoPlus brew, and what about milk?

Check the pod sleeve before you buy. Current 12 oz Alto pods and 18 oz carafe pods are listed for newer machines, and the VertuoPlus only brews the older 14 oz Alto. The pod size guide shows which sizes exist.

There is no milk system, so lattes mean a separate frother such as the Aeroccino. For one-button milk on a Vertuo, VertuoPlus vs Vertuo Lattissima covers the step up.

WhichCapsule note: Black coffee and the occasional frothed milk: VertuoPlus plus a frother. Daily lattes: look at the Lattissima.

VertuoPlus vs Vertuo Next and Pop+

The Vertuo Next adds the 18 oz carafe size and a slimmer body with a smaller tank. The Vertuo Pop+ is smaller and brews the current Alto size.

If you want the carafe, buy the Next. If you want the biggest tank, the VertuoPlus Deluxe still wins. Compare them in Vertuo Next vs VertuoPlus and Vertuo Pop vs VertuoPlus; the Pop in that title is the older model, and Pop+ is the current US one.

WhichCapsule note: Carafe: Vertuo Next. Smallest: Pop+. Biggest tank: VertuoPlus Deluxe.

Who should skip the VertuoPlus?

Skip it if you want the current 12 oz Alto or carafe pods, or if you want a newer, slimmer body with app updates, which points to the Next. Skip it if you want milk at a button. Descale on the manual's schedule; the descaling guide has the steps.

What people actually ask

Is the VertuoPlus still worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if you drink mugs and espresso and do not need the carafe or the current 12 oz Alto. Its tank is larger than the Next's and its motorized head is convenient.

What is the difference between VertuoPlus and VertuoPlus Deluxe?

The Deluxe has a much larger tank, about 60 oz versus 40 oz, and chrome accents. The brewing is the same.

VertuoPlus or Vertuo Next?

Next for the carafe size and a slimmer body; VertuoPlus for a bigger tank. See Vertuo Next vs VertuoPlus.

Does the VertuoPlus leak?

Check that the tank is fully seated in its position, the drip tray is empty and pods have undamaged rims. Our leak guide covers the rest.

Can it make iced coffee?

Yes: brew a double espresso or an over-ice pod onto a full glass of ice.

Can it brew carafe pods?

No. Carafe pods are for newer machines such as the Vertuo Next and Vertuo Up, so check the compatible-machine list on the sleeve before buying.

Who should buy which version

  • Mug coffee, no carafes: the VertuoPlus.
  • Busy household, hates refilling: the VertuoPlus Deluxe.
  • Weekend carafes: the Vertuo Next.
  • Smallest Vertuo with the current Alto size: the Vertuo Pop+.

The bottom line

The VertuoPlus is no longer Nespresso's newest machine, but it is still a capable one with a convenient motorized head and, in Deluxe form, the biggest tank in its class. Buy it when the carafe and the current Alto do not matter to you.

The VertuoPlus page lists its specs and the pods it takes, and the machine finder ranks it against the rest of the range for your answers.
