The VertuoPlus is an older Vertuo machine that is still widely sold, often at a good price. It has a motorized head that opens and locks itself and a movable tank. The standard version holds about 40 oz; the Deluxe holds about 60 oz, the biggest tank of any compact Vertuo, and adds chrome accents. Against newer models it lacks the carafe size, so the question in 2026 is simple: is the price low enough that you do not mind?

This review relies on Nespresso's and De'Longhi's published specifications. Figures vary by market for this older model, so I give ranges where sources disagree.

VertuoPlus versions at a glance

VertuoPlus

40 oz (1.2 L) · 5 mugs (7.8 oz) · Under 40 s · A good-value daily mug machine

VertuoPlus Deluxe

60 oz (1.7 L) · 7 to 8 mugs · Under 40 s · Busy households that hate refilling

Vertuo Next, for reference

37 oz (1.1 L) · 4 to 5 mugs · About 30 s · Every size including carafe

The VertuoPlus brews Vertuo sizes from espresso to a large mug; carafe pods are listed for newer machines. Heat-up figures range from about 20 to 40 seconds across official regional pages.

VertuoPlus: the standard machine

Press the lever and the motorized head opens; insert a pod, close it, press the button and it locks and brews. The tank can be rotated to sit behind or beside the machine, which helps on shallow counters. It reads the pod barcode for each size like every Vertuo.

At about 40 oz the tank holds five mugs, more than a Vertuo Next. The capsule container holds about ten used pods. In the US most listings are De'Longhi-built, and the card below is a verified machine-only listing.

WhichCapsule note: If it is clearly cheaper than a Vertuo Next and you never brew carafes, the VertuoPlus is a sound buy.

VertuoPlus Deluxe: the 60 oz tank

The Deluxe adds chrome accents and a much larger tank, about 60 oz, which means a busy household refills it every couple of days instead of daily. Brewing and sizes are otherwise the same.

Bundles with an Aeroccino are common. As always, compare the bundle with the machine plus a separate frother, and check that the listing really is the Deluxe if the tank is the reason you are buying it.

WhichCapsule note: For a household that drinks a lot of mug coffee and dislikes refilling, the Deluxe tank is the best reason to choose a VertuoPlus.

VertuoPlus vs Vertuo Next and Pop+

The Vertuo Next adds the 18 oz carafe size and a slimmer body with a smaller tank. The Vertuo Pop+ is smaller and adds the Alto size at a low price.

If you want the carafe, buy the Next. If you want the biggest tank, the VertuoPlus Deluxe still wins. Compare them in Vertuo Next vs VertuoPlus and Vertuo Pop vs VertuoPlus.

WhichCapsule note: Carafe: Vertuo Next. Smallest and cheapest: Pop+. Biggest tank: VertuoPlus Deluxe.

Sources and buying checks

Specifications and maintenance: Nespresso Vertuo Plus assistance and the manual for the exact model sold in your country. This is a specification-based buying guide; we have not measured noise, durability or failure rates. Stated heat-up times are manufacturer figures, not total drink-preparation times. Tank-to-cup estimates exclude cleaning, rinse water and unusable water remaining in the tank. Check the selected seller, warranty region and bundle contents before checkout.

What people actually ask

Is the VertuoPlus still worth buying in 2026?

Yes, when it is cheaper than a Vertuo Next and you do not need the carafe size. Its tank is larger and its motorized head is convenient.

What is the difference between VertuoPlus and VertuoPlus Deluxe?

The Deluxe has a much larger tank, about 60 oz versus 40 oz, and chrome accents. The brewing is the same.

VertuoPlus or Vertuo Next?

Next for the carafe size and a slimmer body; VertuoPlus for a bigger tank, often at a lower price. See Vertuo Next vs VertuoPlus.

Does the VertuoPlus leak?

Check that the tank is fully seated in its position, the drip tray is empty and pods have undamaged rims. Our leak guide covers the rest.

Can it make iced coffee?

Yes: brew a double espresso or an over-ice pod onto a full glass of ice.

Can it brew carafe pods?

Nespresso lists carafe pods for newer machines such as the Vertuo Next and Vertuo Up. Check the compatible-machine list on the sleeve before buying carafe pods for a VertuoPlus.

Who should buy which version

  • Mug coffee, good price, no carafes: the VertuoPlus.
  • Busy household, hates refilling: the VertuoPlus Deluxe.
  • Weekend carafes: verify the current capsule and manual for either shortlist; the Vertuo Next is one option.
  • Smallest Vertuo with the Alto size: the Vertuo Pop+.

The bottom line

The VertuoPlus is no longer Nespresso's newest machine, but it is still a capable one with a convenient motorized head and, in Deluxe form, the biggest tank in its class. Buy it when the price is right and the carafe size does not matter to you.
