Lattissima One vs Vertuo Lattissima: Original Espresso or Vertuo Coffee Sizes?

Check that both models are sold in the UK version: 230 V with a three-pin plug. UK listings often appear under the Krups, De'Longhi or Magimix name for the same machine, and colours or bundles can differ from US ranges. Our links open Amazon.co.uk with prices in pounds; John Lewis, Argos and Currys are worth comparing for bundles that include capsules or an Aeroccino.

Quick Answer

Choose Lattissima One if you want a compact Nespresso Original machine for espresso, lungo, cappuccino, espresso macchiato, and latte macchiato. It is the better fit for small kitchens, one-person use, and people who mainly want espresso-based milk drinks.

Choose Vertuo Lattissima if you want the Vertuo capsule system, larger coffee sizes, and automatic milk recipes in one machine. It is better for people who drink both espresso-style coffees and longer cups, or who want a milk machine built around the Vertuo ecosystem.

These machines do not use the same capsules. Lattissima One uses Nespresso Original capsules. Vertuo Lattissima uses Nespresso Vertuo capsules. This is the most important difference in the whole comparison.

Lattissima One vs Vertuo Lattissima: Side-by-Side Comparison

Capsule System: Original vs Vertuo Is the Real Decision

This comparison is not just about two Lattissima machines. It is a comparison between two Nespresso systems.

Lattissima One belongs to the Nespresso Original line. Original capsules are mainly built around espresso-style drinks such as espresso and lungo. The Lattissima One then adds a simple milk system for cappuccino, espresso macchiato, and latte macchiato.

Vertuo Lattissima belongs to the Nespresso Vertuo line. Vertuo capsules use barcode-based brewing and support more cup sizes, including espresso-style drinks and larger coffee cups. The Vertuo Lattissima adds an integrated milk system to that larger-cup platform.

If you already own Original capsules or want access to the broader Original-compatible capsule ecosystem, Lattissima One makes more sense. If you want larger coffee sizes and do not mind using Vertuo capsules, Vertuo Lattissima is the better match.

Milk Drinks: Simple One-Serve vs Larger Vertuo Milk Setup

Lattissima One is designed for small, simple milk drinks. Its milk jug is compact and works well when you want one cappuccino or latte macchiato at a time. That makes it practical for one person or for someone who only drinks milk coffee occasionally.

Vertuo Lattissima is more of a full milk-and-coffee station. It is designed for larger daily use, more cup sizes, and a bigger milk setup. If you want a cappuccino in the morning, a longer coffee later, and a latte macchiato in the afternoon, Vertuo Lattissima gives you more variety from one machine.

The trade-off is size and capsule commitment. Lattissima One is smaller and simpler. Vertuo Lattissima is more flexible for drink size, but it keeps you inside the Vertuo capsule system.

Coffee Sizes and Drink Style

This section should decide the article for many readers.

Lattissima One is strongest when your coffee habits are espresso-based. You drink espresso, lungo, cappuccino, or latte macchiato. You may add milk, but you do not need a large mug of black coffee from the machine.

Vertuo Lattissima is stronger when you want more cup sizes. Vertuo is designed for people who may want espresso one day, a longer coffee the next, and a milk recipe after that. It can feel more versatile if your household has different drink preferences.

A simple rule: choose Lattissima One if your ideal drink starts with espresso. Choose Vertuo Lattissima if your ideal routine includes both espresso-style drinks and larger coffee cups.

Size, Capacity, and Counter Space

Lattissima One is the better small-kitchen machine. It is narrower, lighter, and built around a small milk jug. If your counter space is limited, this matters more than a long feature list.

Vertuo Lattissima is larger. It has a bigger water tank, a larger milk system, and a used capsule container sized around both small and large Vertuo capsules. That makes sense for a machine that handles more drink styles, but it also means you need more counter depth and more room around the machine.

Before buying, measure your counter. Check the space under cabinets, the water tank access, and the area needed for cups and milk cleaning.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Both machines require milk-system care. Neither is maintenance-free.

With Lattissima One, the small milk jug and milk-contact parts should be cleaned after use according to the official instructions. The smaller jug helps keep the workflow simple, but milk residue still matters.

With Vertuo Lattissima, you have a larger milk carafe and a larger machine body. You also need to manage Vertuo capsule disposal, drip tray cleaning, milk-system rinsing, and descaling. For frequent milk users, this is normal, but it is more involved than a basic pod-only machine.

Which Machine Should You Choose?

Choose Lattissima One if…

Choose Lattissima One if you want a compact Original machine for espresso-based milk drinks. It is ideal if you live alone, have a smaller kitchen, or mostly drink espresso and lungo with occasional cappuccino.

It also makes sense if you want more capsule flexibility from the Original ecosystem. Third-party compatible Original capsules are common in many countries, though compatibility and availability still vary by brand and region.

Choose Vertuo Lattissima if…

Choose Vertuo Lattissima if you want coffee size flexibility. It is better for households where one person wants espresso, another wants a longer coffee, and someone else wants a latte macchiato.

It also fits buyers who want a larger integrated milk setup and are comfortable buying Vertuo capsules. Do not choose it if you already have many Original capsules and expect them to work; they will not.

Country Availability and Buying Notes

Machine availability, colours, bundles, capsule ranges, and retailer options vary by country. One market may list a specific colour or bundle while another does not. Do not assume stock, prices, or discounts without local verification.

Safe next steps:

• Check availability in your country.
• View official options for both systems.
• Search on Amazon or local affiliate merchants where relevant.

Final Verdict

Choose Lattissima One if you want a compact, simple Nespresso Original milk machine for espresso, lungo, cappuccino, and latte macchiato.

Choose Vertuo Lattissima if you want Vertuo coffee sizes, a larger machine, and automatic milk recipes in one setup.

The buying decision after the spec chart

The shared Lattissima name hides the first decision: Original versus Vertuo capsules. Original Lattissima One is built around short espresso bases and its single-serve milk carafe. Vertuo Lattissima reads Vertuo capsules and can offer the larger Vertuo coffee formats alongside its milk system. A box of Original pods will not work in the Vertuo machine, even if both machines can make a cappuccino.

Which is better for a household that drinks both lattes and big black coffees?

Vertuo Lattissima is the more natural single-system shortlist when larger black coffees are routine, provided its exact model supports the preferred capsule sizes. If nearly every drink is espresso-based and the household values Original-compatible buying options, Lattissima One is more coherent. Compare ongoing capsule purchases before comparing the number of milk buttons.
