The decision in one cup

Lattissima One is an Original machine. It takes the small Original capsules and properly labelled Original-compatible capsules; it cannot use round Vertuo pods. It also cannot turn one Original capsule into a Vertuo mug coffee. Start with your ordinary drink: espresso or lungo alone, cappuccino or latte-style milk coffee, or a large black mug. The first two habits can fit; a household buying primarily for a large black cup should compare a Vertuo model.

What the milk carafe changes

An Aeroccino makes foam in a separate vessel and leaves you to combine coffee and milk. Lattissima One puts the milk container into the machine's drink sequence. That reduces manual pouring but does not eliminate handling the carafe, spout and milk-contact parts. Use the fill marks and recipe controls on your exact model; another Lattissima generation may have different buttons, capacities or cleaning steps.

A weekday trial before ordering

Imagine Monday at 7:30: fill the water tank, insert an Original espresso capsule, pour chilled milk into the container within its marked range, select the drink, and follow the manual's milk-system cleaning steps afterward. Repeat that mental sequence for the number of consecutive drinks in your household. I would shortlist Lattissima One for someone who already wants Original espresso plus frequent milk drinks and values an integrated coffee-and-milk workflow enough to clean the milk parts consistently. I would not buy it for a Vertuo mug habit or assume that automatic milk means maintenance-free milk.
