Nespresso Vertuo Creatista Review 2026: The Steam-Wand Vertuo

Buying in the UK

Buy the UK model: UK machines run on 230 V with a three-pin plug, while US-spec machines are built for 120 V and should not be used with a plug adaptor. In the UK the same Nespresso machines are sold under the Krups, De'Longhi and Magimix names; the coffee system is identical, so compare colour, bundle and price. Our links open Amazon.co.uk, and John Lewis, Argos and Currys also stock Nespresso machines. Warranty is handled in the country of purchase, so a UK listing is the safer buy.

It is Breville's steam-wand machine for Vertuo pods. You fill a steel jug, choose one of three temperatures and three textures, and the automatic wand textures the milk while you wait. Coffee runs from espresso to the 535 ml carafe in the US. It is the only Vertuo machine that makes café-style microfoam, and it is a large machine.

Vertuo pods only: Original capsules do not fit, even though the Original range has a Creatista too.

Vertuo Creatista and its alternatives at a glance

The Vertuo Creatista ships with a steel milk jug of about 16 oz and measures about 9 x 16.4 x 12.6 in. Descaling it uses two sachets of Nespresso's descaling solution rather than one.

Vertuo Creatista (Breville): what the steam wand adds to Vertuo

The steam wand is automatic: place the jug, pick temperature and texture, and it stops on its own and purges after use. Three settings each is fewer than the Original Creatista machines offer, but enough to move between a thick cappuccino foam and a smoother latte texture.

On the coffee side it is a full Vertuo machine, with espresso, double espresso, gran lungo, mug, 12 oz Alto and 18 oz carafe sizes read from the pod barcode. The removable drip tray leaves room for a travel mug or carafe under the spout.

WhichCapsule note: If you want real microfoam and big mugs from one machine, this is the only Vertuo that does both.

How big is it, and what does the routine involve?

At about 9 in wide and 16.4 in deep, it is one of the largest Nespresso machines, so measure the counter and the clearance under wall cabinets. The 2 L tank holds about eight 7.8 oz mugs or three carafes before rinse water, so one or two people refill it only every few days.

Every milk drink ends with a wipe of the wand and a rinse of the jug. Descaling takes two sachets of Nespresso's solution, so keep a kit on hand; the descaling guide has the general steps.

WhichCapsule note: If you do not want to wipe a wand daily, the Vertuo Lattissima is the lower-effort milk route.

Vertuo Creatista vs Vertuo Lattissima

The Vertuo Lattissima makes cappuccino and latte macchiato at a button from a milk carafe. It is easier and quicker for several milk drinks; the Creatista's foam is silkier and more controllable, and you pour it yourself.

Vertuo Creatista vs Creatista Plus

The Original Creatista Plus offers finer milk control, 11 temperatures and 8 textures, a 3-second heat-up and Original capsules with their wider brand choice. It cannot brew a large mug.

Choose by the black coffee you drink. Mugs and carafes: Vertuo Creatista. Espresso-based drinks only: Creatista Plus. Vertuo Creatista vs Creatista Plus and Vertuo Creatista vs Gran Lattissima compare them.

Who should skip the Vertuo Creatista?

Skip it if you drink mostly black coffee, because the wand and body are wasted on you, or if your counter is shallow. Skip it if you want cold foam, since the wand only heats milk, and if you want fine control over milk, the Original Creatista models give more settings.

What people actually ask

Is the Vertuo Creatista worth it?

If you want café-style milk and large Vertuo coffees from one machine, yes; nothing else in the range does both. If you only drink milk drinks, the Original Creatista Plus offers finer settings.

Can you make latte art with it?

The automatic wand makes microfoam that pours well enough for simple shapes at the smoother texture settings.

Does it make iced lattes?

The wand heats milk, so it does not make cold foam. Brew over ice and add cold milk, or use a frother that whips cold milk.

Does the Vertuo Creatista leak?

Check the wand-purge area, drip tray and tank seating. Persistent water under the body needs manufacturer diagnosis; do not assume it is condensation. Our leak guide covers the other checks. There is no published failure-rate data for this model.

How do you descale it?

It uses two sachets of Nespresso's descaling solution per cycle. Our descaling guide has the general steps.

Who should buy which version

• Café-style lattes and big mugs, one machine: the Vertuo Creatista.
• Lattes at a button: the Vertuo Lattissima.
• Espresso-based milk drinks with the finest control: the Creatista Plus.

The bottom line

The Vertuo Creatista is a niche machine that fills its niche well: a real steam wand on the Vertuo system. If your household wants carafes and lattes with proper microfoam, it is the one to buy; if not, a simpler machine will serve you better.

The Vertuo Creatista page lists its specs and the pods it takes, and the machine finder shows whether a steam wand suits your answers.
